Topping celebrity news this week… Babies and weddings were big in Hollywood this past week. Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are finally husband and wife. The longtime couple tied the knot in front of family and close friends at the Borgo Egnazia resort in the southern Italian city of Fasano. Some of the A-List guests include Biel’s 7th Heaven co-star Beverley Mitchell, Andy Samberg and Jimmy Fallon. The festivities kicked off a few days before the I-dos, with those who had already arrived in Italy. Private security was tight everywhere the wedding party went. The guests were asked to sign nondisclosure agreements to ensure that the details of the couple’s nuptials stayed private for as long as possible. The duo began dating in 2007, but briefly spilt in 2011 before getting back together and becoming engaged. This is the first marriage for the couple.

Elisa Donovan is a married woman. The actress, best known for her roles in Clueless and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, tied the knot with longtime love Charlie Bigelow last Saturday in Carmel, California. The couple, who welcomed daughter Scarlett Avery Bigelow in May, met three years ago while on respective vacations with friends in Mexico. Donovan’s brother walked the bride down the aisle. She said she cried throughout the ceremony, dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief that belonged to her late father. Donovan recently appeared on Good Morning America with the cast of Clueless to celebrate the 17-year reunion of the film. Adele and her boyfriend Simon Konecki welcomed a new bundle of joy into the world, delivering a baby boy last Friday. The 24-year-old first announced her pregnancy via her blog, sharing her exciting news that she was expecting her first child. No word on what the Grammy Award winning singer has named her new baby. Unlike Adele, Megan Fox kept quiet about the birth of her new bundle of joy, until now. The 26-year-old actress welcomed a baby boy in late September with husband Brian Austin Green. This is the first child for the couple who wed two years ago, but Green has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship. Their new baby is named Noah Shannon Green.

Tim Tebow has trademarked Tebowing. The New York Jets quarterback is now the legal owner of the phrase named after him, which gained global recognition thanks to Tebow kneeling in prayer on the football field. Tebow took out the trademark not because he wanted to make money off Tebowing, but because he wanted to prevent others from profiting off of his good name. Now that Tebow owns the trademark, it ensures he has the official right to make money using the word in all sorts of products. Mob Wives star Renee Graziano has checked into a rehabilitation facility, but a substance problem is apparently not the reason. Her choice to enter rehab was made entirely on her own. She has made this decision for the betterment of her son A.J.’s life, as well as to improve her physical, mental and spiritual health. The 41-year-old is reportedly at the Transitions rehab center in Miami.

New details have emerged in the wake of Flavor Flav’s arrest last Wednesday morning for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon. The rapper got into an argument with his fiancee, Elizabeth Trujillo, after she accused him of cheating on her. The fight is said to have become violent, an earring was pulled out during the altercation and the woman was shoved to the ground. Flav was then confronted by Trujillo’s 17-year-old son, at which point Flav grabbed two knives and threatened his life. He was booked on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic violence. He was released after posting bail. We may not know who is going to be playing in the Super Bowl, but we do know who will be singing at halftime, Beyonce will be headlining the 2013 halftime show. She will join the A-list likes of Madonna, The Black Eyed Peas and the Rolling Stones. The Super Bowl takes place in New Orleans on February 3, 2013.

Music Review

Landing on a Hundred is the second major release from the r&b artist Cody ChesnuTT. ChesnuTT does a brilliant job of setting social commentary to beautifully orchestrated, soulful music. The track “Chips Down (In No Landfill),” describes the plight of a man lost in the technologically advanced society he lives in and his need to “throw [his] silicon chips down” in order to feel alive. Cody ChesnuTT shows that he’s well versed in a variety of songwriting styles on the track “Don’t Wanna Go the Other Way.” This song shows his ability to write a head-bobbing rock tune that delivers a message of perseverance against negative forces. “Everybody’s Brother,” depicts the story of the struggles of overcoming drug addiction and past mistakes in-order to turn one’s life around. The instrumental lead-in on this track borrows heavily from 70s motifs, and Curtis Mayfield, and creates an appropriate setting for the over-arching theme of the song.

Cody ChesnuTT’s “Landing on a Hundred” could be lumped in with the resurgence of soul and funk bands like Fitz and the Tantrums or the Heavy, which would be misguided. There’s a deeper narrative and underlying theme of oppression felt throughout that gives this release more meaning. More information can be found at facebook.com/iamcodychesnutt.
