Another sweet informative week at Other Side Drive!
On Tuesday, Papper K stopped by our studios to chat with Harrison and Anyssa about HeARTS Aware!: a music and art event with a strong focus on raising funds, awareness and provisions for several nonprofits/charities. It’s going on this weekend (February 9 and 10) in Austin, TX at La Zona Rosa with an amazing lineup of musicians, bands, visual performance artists, live painters and more! Some of the performers are Bonus Junk, Ashes of Babylon, Loose Leaf,
Rena Jones, DeadEye, Dimitri’s Ascent and so much more; you can see the full schedule here. There will be a canned food drive for Capital Area Food Bank and portion of ticket sales go to The Amala Foundation and The Resonance Project. So do you part, show some support, and enjoy two full days of fun!
On Thursday, Melissa and Shannon caught up with Julie Eckert from our very own Student Health Center. She told us about how the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) is reporting widespread flu activity across the country, including in our state of Texas. Julie was nice enough to inform us on what we can do to try and stay clear of catching the flu and avoid missing class! For more information you can click the lovely Student Health Center link, or check out www.texasflu.org.
Alix Scarborough from Persona Literary Magazine of Texas State University also stopped by our studios that day. She told us all about this awesome magazine which publishes Texas State student’s original work such as poems, art (photography or illustrations), and fiction. The deadline for submissions for their 2013 issue is this February 12! Check out this webpage for more information on submissions and download past issues here!
