Texas State is working to be recognized as a tier one research institution and the latest step towards that goal is the undergraduate research journal featuring research articles of all categories. Editor in Chief, Rachel Barnett, explained that the journal will be online and free through Texas Digital Libraries. Articles are reviewed by honor students who are serving as board members and then reviewed by subject matter experts and editors.
“We publish articles from any field as long as they have a level of research and are written by undergraduate students. The goal is to have an emphasis on research and that has to have more than just research in the sciences, we want to accept research from all categories, including the arts. I do encourage students to submit I think that it’s important that Texas State has a journal that publishes its own research. I don’t think there are enough opportunities for students to publish their research. I’m glad this is kicking off and allowing students that opportunity.”

The journal will be published once a year but Barnett hopes to eventually publish the journals once a semester. Deadlines to submit an article ends to April 8th at noon. Students may submit their articles at journals.tdl.org/txstate.
