Tiny Victories’ debut album “Haunts” is one for the money. This Brooklyn native group produces a jubilant, 11-track indie-electrorock album that leaves listeners wanting to hear more. Along with the arcade-game keyboards and tropical rhythms on tracks like “Scott and Zelda,” Greg Walters (lead singer) portrays the tragic, dark subject matter through his vocals and lyrics. The album is centered on life as it takes a turn for the worse. “You can keep your mercenary love,” Walters sings on the fourth track titled “Let It Burn.”

Going along with the theme of the album, a track that echoes the after effects of going through a breakup is one titled after the live music capital, “Austin, Tx.” The tempo is upbeat with a good bass that gets you in touch with your feelings. To show their versatility, their electro-rock side in “Proton Pagoda” displays the bands uniqueness with the keyboard and sound techniques while staying true to their indie-rock vibe.

“Our Lady of Route 80” has a combination of smooth lyrics and guitar progression that creates the perfect sounding song. It makes you feel like it should be a movie’s score. And to bring the album home, Tiny Victories concludes the beautiful, melancholy journey with a simplistic melody and lyrics: “Everyone here thinks you’re gone.”
