Hair Farmers celebrated their EP release late June at Tantra coffeehouse in San Marcos. Their music borrows from funk and psychedelic greats. With tracks like “Hair Farmers Anthem” it’s hard not to slip into the relaxed, funky grooves brought on by the Hair Farmers. Taken in one track, the EP is a “best of” of the band’s original work.

Lyrics to their anthem leads on to what’s obvious on the album, stating that “instead of going fishing they spend their time indoors jamming around.” Their devotion to the craft is obvious. The album shows off the unique sounds this band can make in a live setting. Listen to the band’s “Hair Farmer’s Anthem” for more playful lyrics. It’s “Slipin and Slidin,” groovy and mystic- what Hair Farmers have created surely reflects an aspect of their environment here in San Marcos (even if they supposedly never go outside.) This is definitely an album to listen to …. sitting down and maybe with a few friends. The complete album can be streamed and downloaded at the band’s reverbnation site!
