All city offices in San Marcos will be closed next Monday due to  Labor Day on September 1st .These offices will reopen on Tuesday during their normal business hours.  However, the Texas Disposal System will continue to operate its usual trash collection and recycling routes.

Texas State University was recently awarded a $15 million grant from NASA for a teacher training program called STEM. The grant will target the areas of science, technology, engineering and math and will affect more than 400,000 educators in the country along with other minority serving institutions.

Hays County will join another Texas celebration on October 7,2014 in National Night Out Against Crime. This night is devoted to heighten crime awareness, generate support in crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood moral, as well as police-community relations.  For more information on National Night Out Against Crime you can contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

Civic and business organizations such as The Greater San Marcos Partnership, Central Texas Fuel Independence Project, CNG 4 America, and Alamo Area Clean Cities will be making an important announcement regarding the Interstate Highway 35 corridor tomorrow. This announcement will occur during the Inaugural Fleet Exchange: Dialogue on Natural Gas in Central Texas Fleets and is open to the public.
