There is a threat of flash flooding in the southwestern region of the U.S. this week, including San Marcos. Three-to-six inches of rainfall are expected through Friday. There may be up to nine inches in some locations this weekend.
Crime Stoppers of Texas State are seeking help to identify a man suspected of several vehicle burglaries. Pictures of the suspect can be seen on the Texas State University news service website. Anyone that reports information regarding the suspect will remain anonymous.
The City of San Marcos is inviting all residents, organizations and all who are interested in adopting and transforming parking spaces into a one day, interactive “pop up park.” This event is meant to celebrate International Park Day. The City of San Marcos Development Services Department also hopes it will raise and promote social interaction and creativity. The event will take place from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday. If you wish to adopt a parking spot you can submit your plans and ideas to the Main Street Program directors.
This semester’s university Philosophy Dialogue Series begins at 11 a.m. The series includes numerous discussions on topics including community, democracy, civil and human rights, expanding the moral realm and many more. These discussions will take place through November 13 in the Comal Building (philosophy building). If you are interested in attending, there is a full schedule on the department of philosophy’s website.
