With more than 10 regional titles, two national titles and finalists for the 2011 World Cup, it can be seen by some that Texas State Entrepreneurial Action Us (Enactus) knows exactly what to do to get to the top.
Throughout the semester, Enactus develops several different projects that benefit the community. These projects are then ran by selected club members and officers.
With these projects, the World Cup team then decides which ones to present during competition.
“Well, Enactus has a lot of projects that we do throughout the year, but a few of the projects that we are going to be zeroing in on this year for the presentation are Project Job Help, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Budget Infographic and ROW,” said Enactus office Candace Adcox.
During the competition, teams are divided into eight leagues with each league containing five teams.
In the first round of competition, two teams from each league advance depending on their score to the semi-final round. In that round teams then begin to get eliminated and four teams are left for a winning spot in the final round of competition.
After the last four teams battle it out only one team is left and is declared Enactus World Cup Champion.
“The projects we chose for the presentation this year were based off of what we felt was the best fit for our environmental, economical, and social criteria,” Adcox said.
Not only does Enactus inspire students to showcase their entrepreneurial and leading skills it also inspires them to become creative individuals and committed community activists. Members take pride in their work and the way they change not only the community but the world, Adcox said.
“I believe Enactus makes the world a difference,” she said. “We not only teach students to further their entrepreneurial spirit but you know we really work side by side with people in order to create opportunities for our community.”
In addition to the World Competition in Beijing, participating students also get to enjoy events such as a culture fair, receptions, lunch and dinner with opponents, panel discussion, guest speakers and activities such as “Top to Top” and “Top to Future Top” forums.
