College Radio Day – Sports Director
Warren Schorr, who considers himself a “super senior,” has been at KTSW for two years and is now the sports director.
Schorr is a communication studies major. He said that part of the reason he chose to transfer to Texas State was because of its communications program.
“Well, when I was looking at schools to transfer to I was looking at student media, like, good radio stations. I saw KTSW was here and I looked at it and it looked pretty cool,” he said.
Schorr was on the station’s news staff his first semester at Texas State because the sports department was full. The next semester he was able to do sports and then was chosen to be the sports director.
Schorr said his favorite thing about working at KTSW is the camaraderie among him and his co-workers.
“I really like the people,” he said. “Everyone on the executive staff and even the other staffs are very nice and we all get along and we’re all friends. The environment’s really a nice working environment. We all get along.”
Schorr said they get along so well that there is nothing he can think of that his friends at KTSW don’t already know about him.
In the time that he has been at KTSW, Schorr said some of his most memorable moments have been covering big news events.
“Hosting the election night coverage for the news department in the primary elections in March,” he said. “And then, for Fort Hood, we did a special, breaking news, half-hour segment on that and I hosted that with one of my friends.”
Schorr really enjoys working at KTSW and, in five years, he sees himself being the host of his own radio show or working for a professional sports team after graduation.
