Winter Storm Juno touched down in the Northeast resulting in states of emergency being declared in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. While places like New York and New Jersey did not get hit as hard as expected, places like Long Island and Boston received up to 25 inches of snow.

In an effort to promote clear lines of communication between President Trauth and Texas State students, Texas State announced that President Trauth has scheduled 4 open-door sessions with students for the semester. All students are invited to attend and discuss issues and concerns relevant to university life. The first open-door session will be held on February 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in room 3-8.1 in the LBJ Student Center.

The Mormon church announced today that they support gay rights in the LGBT community. While they support laws protecting gay rights, they also want laws to protect religious freedom. The church will continue to keep some of its religious rules.

The White House employee responsible for crashing a drone on the White House lawn on Monday has turned himself in and is in custody, The employee, who has yet to be identified, admitted to drinking before the crash and had suspected that the drone had crashed but went home to sleep. The crash resulted in the lock down of the White House as well as surrounding government buildings. President Obama has used this incident to suggest new regulatory framework around small unmanned aircraft.
