Norwegian band, Tomorrow We Move to Hawaii, will be making waves with their new album Independence. Since dance is in the album title, you better know you will be shaking your rump to this fun electro/pop group. Although the band has been around for a few years now, and has had major followings in Europe, they really caught fire when they did their SXSW showcase in our beloved Austin, Texas. An up and coming record label from Austin picked them up and have been working on this new, glorious album since then.
This album took me for a spin, because I typically don’t like this genre of music, but as soon as I heard the singer’s voice, I immediately liked it. At first I thought it was the singer from CSS, but after some frantic research, I found out otherwise. The album mixes deep, bassy beats with high-pitched synth tones combined with old-school video game sounds. I know that might sound totally crazy, but it works very well for them. You will also not be hearing any ukulele or any songs that will remind you of Hawaii at all. This isn’t an album to relax on the beach to with a pina colada in hand, but is more of a beach block party type album. My two favorites off of this album have to be “Bamboos Break” and “The Wall,” and the rest of the album is really great too.

The Wall is so good. & they are currently on repeat on my Google playlist thanks to you all. It’s like LCD Soundsystem & MIA had a Norwegian love child in 1995. I love it.
