After 24 years of friendship and a ten day engagement, a Texas State Student recently married in the popular San Marcos alleyway known as “Kissing Alley” on Valentine’s Day. Rachel Schneider, 39, married Floridian Robbie Rollins after reconnecting within the past year.

“We actually shared the same locker space,” says Schneider.

The two met when they were 15 and 16 at Bartlett High School. Over the years, the two reconnected via Facebook. After a bike incident last year, Schneider flew to visit Rollins at his home in Florida. During the time, the two took a five-day vacation to reconnect.

“It was like magic happened,” said Rollins.

After Schneider’s departure, Rollins says that his cousin asked if there were any setbacks to potentially marrying and settling down with Schneider. Rollins agreed that he was ready to leave Florida in hopes to reconnect with his high school love.

“He gave me have two hours to pack,” Rollins said.

Shortly after, Rollins and his cousin drove to Texas, where he later proposed to Schneider.

The two initially planned to marry in Bexar County on Valentine’s Day, but reconsidered after the bride was contacted by her friend Krys Nelson, a volunteer with Main Street San Marcos.

“She got us rings, bouteneeirs, everything,” said Schneider.

The entire event was sponsored by donations from more than 20 local restaurants, business leaders and other vendors.

“We are so thankful for all of the people who helped us,” says Schneider.

The two plan to permanently reside in San Marcos, Texas.
