The Bobcat Baseball team stars a three game home stand against UL Monroe to kick off Sunbelt Confernece play for the season. The Bobcats walk into this home stand with a 3-8-1 overall record and UL Monroe walks in with a 6-4 record. Assiant Coach Jeremy Fikac disscussed the opening series.
“You know the biggest thing about going into conference play is there is no team that just outshines the other on paper. There is no Lafayette from last year that was number 2 in the country. So we’ve got an opportunity to win this thing.”
Although the Bobcats have had their fair share of tough losses this season they are looking to kick things into gear against what will be a tough Warhawk baseball team.
“Us, we’re starting to get healthy which is a good thing, we’re starting to throw the ball better with Parson’s coming out, Geisler will give us an opportunity to be ready to pitch for the weekend. So there is gonna be a little bit of depth. We’ll handle the pitching a little bit different. Also we got information about guys that we thought could get it done and they haven’t got it done yet. So that’s equally important as well.”
The pitching matchup for todays game will feature Texas States Junior Lucas Humpal with a 1-1 record and Monroe’s Junior Alex Harmeling with a 2-1 record. Saturdays matchup will feature Texas States Senior Scott Grist having a 0-1 record and Monroe’s Junior Brandon Bell having a 2-1 record. And Sundays pitching matchup is to be determined. Friday’s game starts at 6 and Sudays game starts at 1, both of which will be heard on KTSW,
