President Obama’s regulation attempts to slow down climate change will make its debut in court today. It is expected that the regulation discussion in court will last several years as the legal battle over policy begins. According to the New York Times, there are thirteen states and the District of Columbia that are currently supporting Obama’s proposal and are saying that no matter the verdict of the case it is expected to be appealed and several lawsuits are expected to follow, so the fate of the proposal will ultimately make its way to the Supreme Court.

Malaysia government officials have stated that if the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 isn’t found in the Indian Ocean soon, it will double its search zone. According to the Washington Post, officials from Australia, Malaysia and China said that they are committed to bring closure and some peace to the families of the passengers that were board during the crash. The current search zone is 60,000 square kilometers and is expected to be expanded to around 120,000 square kilometers.

Russian president Vladimir Putin made a radical announcement today during a phone-in session with the people of Russia. During this rare opportunity for Russians to speak with the Russian president Putin announced that Russia plans on building its own orbiting space station to be complete by 2023. Putin believes this station will be critical for Russia’s economy in the future. Although NASA has no plans to build a space station, China recently announced that they will be working on an orbiting space station of their own.

A bill was approved yesterday by the Texas Senate that would no longer allow students to face criminal charges for skipping school. According to the Dallas Morning News, the bill would abolish the class C misdemeanor charge for truant students but leave the charge as an option to be filed against parents. The bill would also mandate school districts to have prevention measures in place and designate someone to oversee truancy efforts.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by the national weather service for 20 Texas Counties, including Hays and Blanco County. Heavy rains with winds greater than fifty miles per hour and 1 inch hail could be possible.
