San Marcos is one of the many Central Texas cities still recovering from the recent flooding. At least 400 homes in Wimberley and San Marcos were destroyed and many more were damaged when the waters rushed in over Memorial weekend. Hundreds of residents and families have had to seek out shelter and are still in need of food and supplies.
San Marcos resident, Clarissa said that when the flood ravaged through her home, it took much of what she owned with it.
“My house was destroyed, all my kids’ stuff, my car. I lost everything,” Clarissa said. My wallet was in the house; I lost my ID, money, social security card, everything.”
She said that the days since the flood have been very difficult for her and her family.
“Stressful, long, not knowing what I’m going to be doing the next day or where I’m going to stay. It’s just hard,” Clarissa said.
Although she lost so much in the flood, Clarissa had some encouraging words for others that are in the same situation.
“Just stay strong and know that it’s all going to get better in time.” – Clarissa
