The Texas Water Safari Board has announced that the 53rd annual Texas Water Safari will be postponed to June 27th instead of the original date, June 13th, due to the recent floods on Memorial Day weekend.

The Texas Water Safari, known as the “The World’s Toughest Canoe Race”, is a 260 mile canoe race down various rivers and bay for 100 hours straight every year in June.

The board believes that the high waters could still be a huge factor by June 13th and even if the water gets low enough, the board thinks the conditions left behind could make the race extremely difficult. The Texas Water Safari will dedicate this year’s race to the people who have been devastated by the central Texas floods. For questions and concerns, email them at texaswatersafari@yahoo.com.
