Expanding Your Horizons… Musically

Over the course of a semester, the KTSW music department receives tons of music from various labels and distributors. From there, our music department reviews the music and hand selects which songs will be put on air.  After songs are put into our digital library the CDs life has served its purpose with us.  So now we need to give them a new home.

We call this ultimate event is our CD Blowout. During the whole first week of school, we hung out in the quad. With boxes upon boxes of CDs placed out for you all to take out of our hands.

IMG_8029Giving away free music is a regular for us but what sets this event apart from others is the time we spent separating the music into their specific genres. Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Electronic are some of the genres we have to offer.

The possibilities are endless on what you can find if you look hard enough.

If you have ever wanted to expand your musical horizon this is a great way to have that chance without the cost.

Every single CD is FREE! You can get as much as you want. We practically set up an outdoor CD store and you don’t pay a dime! How can you go wrong?

In today’s time, access to things can be found easily electronically especially with music. Yes, you could always go on Spotify, Pandora, or YouTube but sometimes it feels refreshing to hold a hard copy of music in your hands.

It may seem overwhelming to some with the amount of unrecognizable music you might see, but that’s half the fun if you ask me. You could honestly pick out a CD just because of its album cover.  In the end some may not turn out to be your taste and others might just turn out to be your next favorite band.

It’s a Russian Roulette of CD albums, as I like to say.

Be sure to come and see us out on the Quad on February 11 for our Valentine’s Day CD Blowout.
