Texas State Softball Earns Spot in NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional

The post season did not end for the Bobcat softball team at the Sun Belt Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. Instead, Texas State will be returning to Alabama as they earned a spot to the Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional. This at-large bid will mark the seventh time Texas State Softball has advanced to a NCAA Tournament Regional.

The NCAA softball championship will be three weekends of competition. Four teams will participate at each of 16 campus sites in a double-elimination tournament. Alabama is the sixth seed and will host Texas State, California, and Samford on May 20-22.

The winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional will advance to face the winner of the Seattle Regional. Teams in Seattle include Washington, Minnesota, North Dakota State and Weber State.

Kimberlin Naivar, Randi Rupp, Ariel Ortiz were selected to the All-Sun Belt Tournament team. Texas State earned a 39-20 record this season.
