Former Texas State track and field athlete Logan Cunningham is headed to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Logan placed third, clearing the bar at 5.60 meters in the pole vault overall in the finals of the USA Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Cunningham is now the seventh Bobcat to go to the Olympics. While at Texas State, he was a three time NCAA west preliminary participant and competed twice at the indoor and outdoor NCAA championship meets where he placed fourth in 2011. With two conference titles from 2012 under his belt from the Southland Conference outdoor championship and the western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, both clearing 5.53m, Cunningham wasn’t too far from his Olympic trial height four years later of 5.60 meters.

The 2016 Rio Games begin August 5 and end August 21. Tune in to watch Texas State Alumni compete for team USA. For results and scheduled timing ,check out the NBC Olympic website.
