Texas State Bobcats lost their second game to the University of Texas Longhorns this season by a score of 2-0 in Austin, Texas. That means the Longhorns win the season series with 2-1. That pushes the Bobcat’s overall record down to 22-16 on the season. Even though the Bobcats left 10 plus runners on base and didn’t bring home a single run there was a bright spot for the Bobcats. The speedy Left Fielder, Jacob Almendarez, had three hits and two of them were infield singles.

The Bobcats had their fair share of opportunities to win this one. The biggest missed opportunity came in the top of the 7th when the Cats had the bases loaded and their 1,2,3 hitters could not push any of those runs across. Schieble, Ortega, and Hoffman failed to come through in the clutch and it was smooth sailing for the Longhorns after that epic 7th inning. The Bobcats get back to Sunbelt Conference play this weekend when they head over to Troy, Alabama, to take on the Trojans. The first game will start at 6pm this Friday and all three of those games can be heard right here on KTSW.
