CASA breaks ground in San Marcos

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Central Texas, or CASA, has officially broken ground on a new office building in San Marcos. CASA works with children in the court system who face abuse and neglect by pairing them with supportive, stable community volunteers. According to CASA development director Tricia Schneider one reason for the new building is the increased number of children who face abuse in the Hays County area.
The organization’s vision is that every child has the right to a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. The organization’s goal is to grow to the point where they can serve every child that requires their services. Currently, the organization can only reach out to about half of the Hays County’s need.
CASA encourages members of the community to sign up for a one year commitment to help change a child’s life. Until construction is completed CASA will remain in their current office located on the second floor of the old San Marcos Courthouse.
