The Bobcats fall to the Cardinals 6-1 in a game which was won early on by Incarnate Word, whom did not look back as they took the lead.

The first score was an unearned run by cardinal sophomore Ryan Flores, which was created thanks to a single going out to center field by sophomore outfielder Ridge Rogers at the bottom of the third inning.

Bobcat junior Jaxon Williams responded with a homerun at the top of the forth to make it a 1-1 game. However, Incarnate Word started to pull away at the bottom of the forth by scoring four runs. This caused head coach Ty Harrington to make a pitching change as senior pitcher Kyle Bradford subbed in for Bobcat junior Garrett Herrmann, who had a tough game from the mound, giving up five runs on six hits.

In the fifth, the Cardinals were able to score again thanks to sacrifice fly by freshman outfielder Jordan Thompson, which allowed cardinal freshman Taylor Smith to score making it a 6-1 lead.

The ‘Cats had a small glimmer of hope at the top of the ninth when bases were loaded with two outs on the board. Junior outfielder Chase Evans got grounded out, which ended any hopes of the Maroon and Gold making a comeback.

Overall, this is a tough loss for the Bobcats as they look to gain consistency from game to game. The Cardinals got a superb pitching from cardinal redshirt senior Tyler Miller, who had two scoreless innings and had three strikeouts. Bobcat redshirt junior Will Hollis extended his reached base streak to 15 games, while redshirt senior outfielder Skyler Valentine extended his hitting streak to seven games.

The ‘Cats look to get back to the drawing board this Friday against ULM in Bobcat Ballpark at 6 p.m. This will be the first time the Bobcats will be hosting a home series against Sun Belt Conference foe ULM this season.
