Saying Goodbye to the Avengers

Warning: contains light spoilers.

For the last 11 years the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been one of the biggest movie franchises in the world. Sadly, we all known great things have to come to an end. Avengers Endgame is the well deserved ending to The Avengers, for now at least.

Without giving away any spoilers I would say that Endgame is somewhat sad and unexpected. It starts off right where Infinity War ended but the plot isn’t anything like what fans would expect from the trailers. The directors took a risk of investing in a plot that could’ve gone horribly wrong but in the end was delivered well. What I mean by this is that the main plot of this movie is time travel. Time travel in movies can either make or break the entire development of the film but in Endgame it was done very well. The characters explained what they had to do in a way where audiences could easily understand it. However, there were many times in the movie where if you really thought about what you were seeing, it didn’t make any sense at all. This is why I wish the directors would of taken a different route to getting back all the characters they had lost in the previous movie.

An example from the movie I can give is when a character happens to kill their past self, you would think because they killed their past self that they actually killed themself but nothing happens. I feel like their there were so many questions that went unanswered because of the decision to have a plot that consisted of time travel. I’m not saying the movie was bad, it was actually amazing, but because this is the Avengers last film, they deserved an ending with more answers than questions.

Expect to cry because Endgame does says goodbye to various members of the team. I will not say who but their deaths are sad to accept but well deserved. They die in ways fit for a hero. The movie also says hello to new characters and even hints at new origins that we could be seeing on screens very soon. What I loved about Endgame was that it felt as if we were starting something new. In a scene from the movie, multiple female characters from many of the MCU movies team up to fight Thanos’s army. I loved that the movie showed the strength of the female heroes. This gave me hope that maybe in a future film there could be an all-female team.

I keep saying that this could possible be the end of the Avengers because they lost very important members. However, many of the Avengers are still around and Marvel already has a lineup for more movies to be released soon, such as: SpiderMan: Far From Home, Black Panther 2 and another Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel has been keeping their movie productions very hush-hush but from the placement of unknown faces in Endgame, I’m pretty sure new heroes will be showing up in the next couple of years. After saying this, I think it’s possible we could get another Avengers movie, just not very soon. We have a bigger chance of possibly getting one the many other hero teams that the MCU has.

My overall opinion of Endgame was that after 11 years, it was worth the wait. It’s the end of an era for the Avengers but also a beginning.
