The Texas State volleyball team is once again one of the best teams in the country and currently ranked #13 in the country with a record of 19-1.

The Bobcats are in their first season under new head coach Sean Huiet, who was promoted to head coach from assistant after the retirement of legendary head coach Karen Chisum.

The transition couldn’t have gone much smoother as the Bobcats are once again at the top of the Sun Belt Conference.

Texas State is currently on a 16 game win streak heading into their final regular-season matches on Friday and Saturday against UT Arlington.

The Bobcats are led by Emily DewaltJanell FitzgeraldTyeranee Scott and UTSA transfer Kenedi Rutherford.

Dewalt was a 2019 All-Sun Belt First Team player. Fitzgerald and Scott were Second Team All-Sun Belt. All three are likely to all-conference honors once again.

Fitzgerald was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for this week after her strong performance in the Bobcats three-match sweep of Arkansas State.

Fitzgerald led the Bobcats with 5.27 kills per set while putting up a total of 68.5 total points over 11 sets.

Following their pair of matches with UT Arlington, Texas State will head to the Sun Belt Conference tournament as the #1 seed in the West looking to win their third straight Sun Belt Conference tournament championship.

The Bobcat’s toughest test would likely come if they were to reach the finals where they would likely face undefeated Coastal Carolina.

Coastal is ranked just outside the top 15 having received votes.

The Sun Belt Conference tournament will be held in Foley, Alabama from Nov. 18-22. Follow @KTSWSports on Twitter for all the latest on Texas State Volleyball.
