Every holiday meal is obligated to include a dessert. For this season, I would like to introduce this dessert I have been trying to make for a year now: the Molten Lava Cake. This past Thanksgiving, I made it a reality. I first saw how the lava cake was made from this YouTube channel called Joss and Janik. They made it so precise that it looked good enough for me to try making it myself. After doing research, I found that there are various ways to make this. I have decided to settle on the following method. Here is the step-by-step process…
Ingredients
–4 ounces of semi-sweet baking chocolate
-Unsalted butter (1 stick)
-1/4 cup of Powdered sugar
-Four eggs
-1/8 Teaspoon of salt
-2 Tablespoon Flour (all-purpose and gluten free both works)
-Muffin pan or ramekins (I just used a plain metal pan)
-Cooking Spray
Step One
Preheat Oven to 425 Degrees.
Step Two
Melt butter and chocolate for a minute, stir until smooth
Step Three
Whisk in sugar and salt until smooth
Step Four
Whisk in eggs and beat for a minute
Step Five
Add flour and stir it until combined
Step Six
Place batter onto pan and bake for ten minutes
The molten lava cake is a French-originated dessert that became popular in the late 1980s in New York City. Two chefs claimed to have invented it but either way, this dessert was indeed great. I am glad I found such recipe because it is good to know for one’s appetite and to try new things. I already knew how to make the Rice Cake, an iconic dessert in Chinese cuisine. So adding this French-American dessert made a great addition to my collection of recipes. For this holiday season, I certainly hope you also enjoy the Molten Lava Cake! Bon Appétit.
