Visiting Magnolia Market

After being a fan of Joanna and Chip Gaines for years, I finally decided to visit Magnolia Market at the Silos. Magnolia Market is in the heart of downtown Waco and occupies two city blocks. It opened originally in 2015 and expanded in 2020 to include retail stores and more.

The space is beautiful with so much to see and can be a fun day trip with friends, family, or even just a solo trip to check it out. I would recommend going on a weekday when the crowds are not as intense and getting there a little earlier in the day to avoid the long lines. Also, be aware that the parking is $10 in the lots but if you are lucky, you can snag one of the few spots up close to the buildings. 

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was how aesthetically pleasing everything was, which was not really a surprise given what a design mastermind Joanna Gaines is. I walked through the coffee shop first, which led into a connected building with beautiful furniture and home goods. 

Outside there were about six small buildings that all served as different retail spaces. Connecting them was a grass median with a beautiful, recently erected church at the front of it. 

My favorite section of the Magnolia complex was the garden tucked away in the back of the complex in the shade of the silos. It was gorgeous with a dedicated butterfly garden, a small herb section, and beautifully integrated edible plants like dill and a fuji apple tree. 

If you are lucky, you can catch a private concert in front of the Magnolia Home building. I got there early and was able to grab a shaded seat to listen to a duo performing cover songs. 

I noticed that this summer they are having a summer concert series. I was also informed that their seasonal celebrations like Silobration in the fall and Christmas at The Silos are a good time for all ages, if you don’t mind waiting in long lines.  

All in all, it was worth the trip. The products were a little pricey, but just looking at the way everything was displayed gave me ideas for things to do at home. Even though I did not end up buying anything, I enjoyed walking around the grounds and soaking in the beauty.
