This game also saw a record-breaking 3425 fans in attendance making history as the biggest fan turnout for Bobcat Ballpark.
When asked about the number of fans in attendance, Head Coach Steven Trout said, “Couldn’t be more proud of the fans for showing up and getting after it. I know that many will travel up the road for tomorrow’s game, and maybe we will get some déjà vu from last year and try to get the second one,” referring to how the Bobcats lost their first game against the Longhorns last year but won the second game at the University of Texas.
The Longhorns took an early lead in the top of the third inning after the Bobcats intentionally walked Porter Brown to load the bases. The Bobcats then walked Rylan Galvan to give the Longhorns one run. After pitcher Nathan Medrano took over for Peyton Zabel, Longhorn Jack O’Dowd singled out to left field bringing two Longhorns home to put them up by three.
In the top of the eighth inning, The Longhorns brought 2 more runners home to bring the score 5-0.
The Bobcats—still in it in the bottom of the eighth—saw Ryan Leary triple out to left field which brought home Davis Powell and Ben McClain cutting the deficit to three.
As Head Coach Trout said, “We got locked in later in the game.”
Unfortunately, the Bobcats couldn’t catch up to the early lead made by the Longhorns.
The Bobcats will be back in action Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30pm where they will face the Longhorns again at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. You can listen to the Bobcats live on KTSW 89.9 or watch them live on the Longhorn Network.
