Hagel is the only Republican on the national security team. Officials said the threat from the Islamic State would demand different kinds of skills than Hagel brought. The Times also said that Hagel was not fired; the President and Hagel mutually agreed that it was his time to leave. Texas State was ranked number 17 on a ranking system based on academics and the number of Hispanic students in attendance. Each college on the list has a cultural center and degree programs or scholarships that enhance the experiences of Hispanic students. For the fall 2014 semester alone, Texas State University holds a Hispanic population of 11,626 students, attributing to 32% of the student body.
