Plans are moving forward to build a new 540-megawatt power plant on Horseshoe Bay to replace the old Thomas Ferguson plant. San Marcos has acquired 96-acres of land to add to the 570-acre Purgatory Creek natural area. The land was given to the city by The Trust for Public Land, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing cities with local conservation areas.
