Rock Your Future

Generation Texas is a state wide grass-roots movement designed to inspire and inform families throughout Texas about secondary education.

This fall, the Center for P-16 Initiatives at Texas State University and Generation Texas launched the ‘Rock Your Future’ Promotion. The ‘Rock Your Future’ promotion is focused on getting incoming high school freshmen students to think about their future and the next steps towards college.

Isaac Torres, the Grant Specialist of the Center for P-16 Initiatives at Texas State University talks about the importance of reaching out to freshmen high school students.

“We want to hit them early with this message that your future begins now, you have to be career minded now.”

“So we hope that these students will come away from the “Rock Your Future” workshop with a newly inspired motivation that they have to focus on their academics and the have to have a vision and a plan for their life beyond high school. A high school diploma is no longer good enough and they have to have some type of post-secondary education and skills training in order to succeed in the 21st century workforce,” said Torres.
