Wild Rice Festival In Studio Interview

Last week Other Side Drive was joined by the coordinators of San Marcos’ first Wild Rice Festival at Sewell Park. Organizers Ashley Wright, Tom Thumb, and representative Courtney Eberhard of HEAT (Human Environmental Animal Team) joined the Other Side Drive team to share their tales.  The festival, which takes place at Sewell Park April 11th and 12th, and will host a number of activities to educate participants about the preservation process of the San Marcos River.

The Festival will host the community showing of “Yakona,” a documentary filmed from the perspective of the San Marcos river and which premiered at SXSW 2014. Alamo Drafthouse will be sponsoring the event and will provide a large screen for community members to view the documentary beside the river.

Throughout the day interactive activities will take place including nature hikes and educational talks.
