Daddy Daughter Dance
The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation held their 6th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance Friday June 13th. Young ladies ages 1&Up were invited to bring their father, grandfather, or their father figure to the dance and celebrate Fathers Day in a very special way.
The City of San Marcos held a semi-formal Daddy Daughter Dance with music of all generations and types and provided cookies, cupcakes from Mia Bella Bakery, punch and a special tiara for each girl that attended the dance.
Jessica Ramos, the Youth Services Manager for the City of San Marcos was the event coordinator for the 6th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance for the community, which was held at the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Activity Center. Ramos was very excited about how the changes throughout the years has gradually increased.
Attendance has grown significantly. The first year started off with a little less than a hundred people and by the looking at the numbers from tonight we hit around two hundred and sixty.”
– Jessica Ramos, Youth Service Manager
Ramos not only coordinated the Daddy Daughter event, but has also held other projects as well.
I’ve also done dances for adults with disabilities and I wanted to do something for kids. Normally people do it for Valentines day, I wanted to do something different and do it a Friday before Father’s Day.”
– Jessica Ramos, Youth Service Manager
Olivia and Jocelyn Acuña, sisters who attended the Daddy Daughter Dance were brought by surprise by their father and grandfather, who had first heard about the dance because of their mother.
My favorite part of the day I looked at the table and I saw chocolate so I hurried up and ate one.”
– Olivia Acuna, attendee
San Marcos being one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, events such as the Daddy Daughter Dance is a great way to unite the community as a whole and keep the community active. Speaking of active, the City of San Marcos also offers a Summer Fun camp for the youth ages 7-14. For more details visit the City of San Marcos website.
