College Radio Day — KTSW’s Webmaster
This will be Ethan Vogt’s second full semester working with KTSW as it’s webmaster. Vogt is in charge of daily online maintenance, which includes updating the station’s website, overseeing social media and web content. He is also in charge of coming up with a new direction and new features for the station’s online presence.
Vogt, communication design senior, is from Victoria, Texas. He said he has been working in Web design since the seventh grade and has always been interested in the field.
A Texas State-wide email prompted Vogt to apply for the station’s webmaster position because he thought it would be a perfect fit.
“I didn’t think I would get it honestly, I figured a lot of people would be applying,” he said. “The next thing I know I was called in for an interview and the rest is history.”
Besides the everyday maintenance of the station’s website, Vogt said his favorite part about his job is the freedom and creativity in how the station is perceived online.
Something that people at KTSW may not know about him is that he loves to create electronic music. He says it relaxes him and lets him put his creativity somewhere else besides Web design.
In the next five years he would like to go wherever a job takes him but would like to travel.
“I love Austin and I would love to stay there, but I would love to see the world,” said Vogt. “New York City or London. In the world of design, I think I can probably get a job overseas, so I would like to try for that but we’ll see what happens.”
One of Vogt’s favorite moments with the station was MR Fest 2014.
“The 2014 MR Fest was incredible,” he said. “I knew it was going to be big, but I just didn’t expect that it would be that big. I think it’s really amazing what we can do when we all combine our powers at KTSW.”
KTSW is proud to have Vogt on the team and is thankful for his hard work and dedication to being its webmaster.
