The Bobcats softball team is on a 6 game winning streak after beating Lamar 8-0. The Bobcats are 15-10. Standout freshman pitcher Randi Rupp notched her 11th win of the season while only allowing 2 hits and striking out 4. Head Coach Ricki Woodard collected her 499th win at Texas State and was impressed with Rupp. She had this to say on her teams victory, “As long as Randi’s throwing as well as she’s throwing right now we’re gonna win a lot of ballgames down the stretch but we knew we were gonna have some growing pains early in the season and hopefully we’re getting through some of those and find a way to win ball games.”
In the last 3 innings of the game the Bobcats converted eight of nine hits into runs and Ariel Ortiz was able to knock in her 16th RBI of the season. ““Yeah I feel like we’re in a really good spot offensively, we’re doing a good job defensively, we’re decent, we’re still making some mistakes we don’t need to make. But we’re running the bases fairly decent. Obviously we’re pitching as well as we’ve pitched all year.”
Next up for Texas State is Georgia State, Saturday in San Marcos at 1 p.m. The Panthers are off to a hot start. They’ve won sixteen and only lost twice this season.
