Texas State University has received a $5 million donation from the St David’s Foundation to fund the construction of a Health Professions Building in Round Rock, according to the San Marcos Mercury. Texas State’s College of Health Professions has increased enrollment more than 100 percent in the last five years. The 170,000 square foot facility is expected to cost $67 million. With $57 million committed to the project, Texas State is seeking additional philanthropic means to fund the remainder of the project. The building is expected to open in 2018

A second State and FEMA disaster recovery is now open in San Marcos, located at 501 South LBJ Drive in Classrooms 17 and 18 of the San Marcos Crossroads building, operating from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. This center will serve as the central location for flood victims from any of the 30 affected counties across Texas and is designated for individual assistance for those who need one-on-one help. Specialists from the State of Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Small Business Administration will all be present at the center to aid the recovery effort.
