Location Motivation: Places to go on a Date

So I know I’m not the only one that has publicly met up with someone they are mutually attracted to and discovered after a few short minutes things weren’t going as planned. Maybe the conversation just got super awkward or maybe you ended up face to face with “sir-spits-a lot.” Well, whatever the case, by the end of it you are plotting up the quickest way out of the place. Maybe even a few swift James Bond moves are involved.

Or maybe things went the other direction for you and the night ended with the two of you blaring “Making my way down town” while screaming the lyrics together the whole ride home…. Either way, you guessed it, we are talking about dates.

Good or bad, San Marcos has so many beautiful places to go on a date. I went around and talked with several San Marcos residents, where I discovered some cool new places to impress that certain someone.

Texas State senior, Alyssa Backhus claims her top date spot is a quaint, romantic restaurant close to campus in San Marcos.

“I feel that Italian Garden is a great place for a first date,” Backhus said. “A guy can go pick out a bottle of wine since it is BYOB and take you to get some ravioli or spaghetti. And who knows, maybe end with a little lady in the tramp action.”

It’s no secret that us women love a happy Disney-ending! Just don’t forget to twirl your spaghetti before taking a bite, no one likes a spaghetti slurp-er.

Next, I caught up with Joseph Blalack, an avid adventurous and San Marcos resident.

“If you’re really trying to impress a girl, you should definitely take advantage of San Marcos by taking her out on a kayak trip, it’s about 2 hours on Old Bastrop Road,” Blalack said. “Take her out, there’s a lot of fun rapids, get her adrenaline flowing. After that, calm her down by taking her to the Root cellar. It’s a nice homey feel with American food. And maybe after all this, you’ll be lucky with a smooch.”

Take notes, guys! Sounds like the real way to when a girl over.

Finally, I talked with Katelin Klepper, a recent Texas State transfer student.

“I think a good first date would be going a few miles outside of San Marcos to the Wimberley Zip Line Adventures in Wimberley, Texas, Klepper said. “The scenic zip line is super romantic and adventurous.”

I would have to agree that zip lining in general is definitely something to add to the bucket list, so why not do it with that special someone?
