On Sunday August 16 the lady Bobcats took a trip down I-35 for an exhibition game against in-state rival UTSA. Senior forward Lyndsey Curry scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute. The Bobcats voted to come 3rd in the conference behind the South Alabama Jaguars and the Troy Trojans.

The Bobcats will add five freshmen to the team this 2015 season. For incoming freshmen Sydney Smith, Kelly Barbalias, Skylar Vanover-Hallmark, Sophia Acevedo and Jamie Brown it will take some time for them to adapt and learn the formation the Bobcats run here.

“They have been watching film and they know the game. The next step for them is to understand that you can’t chase the game but you’ve got to control it,” Texas State’s Coach Conner states this is what needs to change for the new freshmen on this lady Bobcat team. Conner also explains that she’s been recruiting from club teams and that their playing fields are smaller but faster. She explains that it is very essential for them to adapt to the college field dimensions. She also states that mostly every girl is on track to finding their pace.

For this young team it is crucial that everyone is on the same rhythm, mostly because that will add to the field leadership that forward Lyndsey Curry and goalkeeper Caitlyn Rinehart as returning players.

Texas State will have their home opener against the Lady Cowgirls of McNeese State on August 28th. The Lady Bobcats have the overall series over McNeese at 17-8-1.
