The Texas State Softball team opened the 2016 season with a dominating performance throughout the CenturyLink Classic. The Bobcats finished the weekend tournament with 5 wins out of 6, and outscored their opposition 28-9.
With the Bobcats fantastic performances came some amazing plays and here are what we think are the top 5!

The Bobcats opened the season by pounding Abilene Christian University by a score of 13-1. As part of a five run inning, Taylor Webb at the plate with two on and two outs, and gave the Bobcats an 11-0 lead.

Same game, Bobcats at-bat, top of the first inning. At two outs with runners on second and third, Corrina Liscano, a Junior College transfer from Howard College, is at her first at-bat in a Texas State uniform. She did not disappoint.

The Bobcats trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, were in desperate need of runs. With two outs and two runners on base, Ariel Ortiz stepped up to the plate. At this point in the young season, Ortiz was 2-9 at the plate but with the pressure on and the Bobcats in need of runs, Ortiz delivered.

Final game of the Classic for the Bobcats, tied with Abilene Christian 3-3 in bottom of the eighth inning. Ariel Ortiz came to the plate with the bases loaded, and Ortiz obliged Bobcat fans with a game winning walk off single.

The play of the weekend. Texas State and Oklahoma State tied at 1 run a piece going into the bottom of the seventh. Kelli Baker singled to get on base to set the stage for Bianca Prado. Prado hit one home run in total last season, stepped to the plate to give the Bobcats the walk off win over their Big-12 foe.
