The weather on Tuesday did not stop the Bobcats to start off hot against the Baylor Bears. Texas State dominated from the start with freshman Jonathan Ortega who doubled to center field to start the game. After left fielder Granger Studdard walked, Dylan Paul tripled to right center to start the inning 3-0. A 30 minute lightning delay after the first inning caused for fans to leave Baylor Ballpark for the game to resume at 6:20 p.m. After some Baylor hits in the fourth inning led to bases loaded but only one run was allowed.
The eighth and ninth innings are what secured the Bobcats’ lead with eight runs, four in each inning.
The following Bobcats scored in the eighth and ninth innings in this particular order: Tanner Hill, Cory Geisler, Jacob Almendarez, Derek Scheible, Tanner Hill, Cody Lovejoy, Cory Geisler and Jared Huber.
Texas State has now defeated the Baylor Bears five consecutive games in a row. Texas State Baseball now has a 9-4 record going into Sun Belt Conference play.
Bad weather causes the Bobcats to host ULM this weekend
Bobcat Baseball will host the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks this Saturday and Sunday. The three-game series between the Bobcats and ULM was originally scheduled to be played at Warhawk Field in Monroe, Louisiana but due to some continuous thunderstorms the series has been moved to San Marcos. The Bobcats currently have a 9-4 record while ULM sits at 6-5 overall.
