Randi Rupp and company took care of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders on Tuesday. The Bobcats found a way to win with Rupp shutting out the Islanders with 10 strikeouts while junior Quincy Charleston would earn her first save of the season. Kelli Baker singled to score Kendall Wiley and Kimberlin Naivar in the second inning. A single from Kayleigh Norte advanced Naivar to second and would later score after a Baker single. The final score of the Tuesday afternoon game ended 3-0.
The Bobcats continued their dominance over the Islanders on Wednesday. A single by Sara Rupp would start things for the Bobcats, and would advance to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Norte. Alex Cruz would pinch run for Rupp and would eventually score after a Kelli Baker single to right field at the top of the third inning. A single by Corrina Liscano and a sacrifice bunt by Taylor Webb would advance her to second. Naivar singled up the middle and would score Liscano.
The Bobcats kept battling at the top of the fifth as Webb hit a double down the line to score Liscano and Ariel Ortiz to add two more runs. At the top of the seventh Wiley stepped onto the plate with bases loaded but only Baker would score to give the Bobcats a 5-0 victory.
Randi Rupp continues her dominance at the circle as her record stands at 14-4. Rupp puts herself as one of the top four pitchers in the country with 14 victories. The Bobcats improve to 20-7 and will continue to be on the road as they face the Georgia State Panthers. Texas State will continue Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday and Sunday.
