The Texas State baseball team ends the holiday weekend series getting swept by South Alabama on Saturday with an 3-2 loss in eleven innings in San Marcos. Texas State put up the first of runs with a pair in the bottom of the third inning. Granger Studdard hit a single to right field scoring Ortega and Huber for the Bobcats. And that’s all the scoring that the Bobcats would get on Saturday afternoon.

Cory Geisler produced a strong showing on the mound for Texas State. He pitched seven shutout innings, which included 7 strikeouts on 103 pitches. But with two outs in the top of the 8th inning, Geisler gave up a double to Jared Barnes which brought home Billingsley and Swaggerty tying up the game at two-a-piece.

After going scoreless in the ninth and tenth innings, South Alabama’s Adam Wolfe would hit a single bringing home Gann and going up 3-2 in the top of the eleventh inning. The Bobcats would only get one on in the bottom of the eleventh and come away getting swept in the series.

The Bobcats fall to 15-9 on the season, with a 6-3 record in the Sun Belt. South Alabama improves to 18-6 on their season, with a 9-0 record in Sun Belt play.

Bobcats face Sam Houston State on Monday in Huntsville, first-pitch is at 6:30 p.m..
