SAN MARCOS — Lauren Kirch received honors as the Sun Belt Conference’s defensive player of the week after her performance for the Texas State volleyball team. This is the second time that the senior middle blocker has taken home the award.
Kirch finished the four-match week with a team high 19 blocks. She kicked it off with a nine-kill, six-block performance in the four-set loss to interstate team Baylor in front of a record setting crowd at Strahan Coliseum.
Kirch finished the weekend with a 28-kill and 13-block performance in three matches in the Creed and Crest Classic.
Texas State plays next weekend in the North Harbour Marriott Challenge in Portland, Oregon. Matches start Friday at 12 p.m with the first match against CSU Bakersfield.
