It’s only September and Texas State Soccer is already making strides to another stellar season.
Led by Captions Senior Lauren Prater and Maddie Nichols, the Bobcats are fighting their way to Sun Belt Conference play that starts next week with the Little Rock Trojans. So far this season, the team has had trouble closing out games.

“We have been having trouble all season finishing games,” Prater said. “That’s why [this week] all we’ve been doing in practice is finishing and closing out games.”
Prater, who has been on the team since her freshmen year, is the a leader in goals scored and assists.
“Against [Stephen F. Austin] we wanna start fast,” Nichols said. “If we can do that, then we’ll be in a good position.”
The Bobcats’ record going into tomorrow’s game is below .500, 2-3-1, but that doesn’t seem to affect the team at all. After last Sunday’s 0-1 loss to the University of Texas at El Paso, the Bobcats look to seek revenge tomorrow, playing the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. Last year was a 4-0 Bobcat blowout win, with then junior Prater scoring a goal. The game will start at 7 p.m. at Bobcat Soccer Complex.
By Jason Harris Assistant Sports Director On this episode of Bobcat Radio, the show is joined by Thomas Abowd of the Texas State Athletics Video Department. Abowd fills us in on what all goes into making the intro and “hype” videos as well as what it was like to travel to Ohio with the football for their big opening day win.
