The Bobcat Club is the official fundraising organization of Texas State Athletics and they have been pretty busy since the hire of head football Coach Everett Withers.
Josh Wittenberg, assistant AD of the Bobcat Club, explains that the hire of Everett Withers has helped increase membership to the organization.
“We’ve seen our donations go up, number of memberships go up and our season ticket numbers go up and I think that’s attributed to the hop and excitement for this football season and the Withers’ arrival in San Marcos,” Wittenberg said.
“There was a lot of excitement around Withers when he was first hired,” Wittenberg said. “I thought he just brought a new level of energy and enthusiasm. But also after talking to the players you realize he’s bringing a new level of accountability and discipline to the program. All those things combined really generate a lot of excitement in the alum base,” said Wittenberg.
In addition to fundraising, the Bobcat Club makes efforts to reach out to alumni to come to football games because it will benefit the school.
“We don’t want our alumni to graduate then it be 10-15 years until they step foot back on campus,” says Wittenberg. “It’s gonna be alumni more than anything else that pushes us towards a sell out and creates that home field advantage for our team.”
In terms of the Houston game, the Bobcat Club will be hosting a tailgate for recent Texas State graduates.
“This weekend another project is our recent graduate tailgate,” Wittenberg said. “We do this for the first game and it’s really a way for us to reach out to graduates who have graduated within the last five years. We host a welcome reception on Friday and host a tailgate the day of the game.”
