The Bobcats win one and lose one over the weekend against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.

On Friday, against Coastal Carolina, Coach Chisum said that she gives her team a C+ effort after losing in the fourth set. The Bobcats have hit a bump in their conference schedule after a 2-0 start.

Coastal Carolina took the first set from the Bobcats 25-21 in a tough fought set. Texas State responded nicely with 25-14 win in the second set, but then dropped the last two, only scoring 38 points total in the last two sets.

Texas State ended their game against the Chanticleers with a .109 hitting percentage and only 44 kills. The offense is struggling to efficiently put points on the board. Lauren Kirch did excel in this game though, leading Texas State in kills, aces and blocks. Kirch already owns one SBC defensive player of the week honors back in early September.

Texas State picked up their third conference win against Appalachian State on Sunday in five sets.

Appalachian State came into San Marcos Sunday without a single set to their name in conference play. The Mountaineers had been swept in all three games before playing Texas State.

The Mountaineers shocked the Bobcats in the first set by coming out firing on all cylinders. The vistitors took the first set 25-18 and did not let up at all. Texas State would go on to win the second set behind excellent play from Jaliyah Bolden and Erin Hoppe.

Appalachain State would then come back and win tough fought third set 28-26, but ran out of gas in the fourth set and led to the Bobcats forcing a fifth and final set. The set was tied at 10-10 when a service error gave the Bobcats a one point lead, and the Bolden came in and put the game away. The final score in the fifth set was 15-13, Bolden ended the game with 19 kills.

Texas State will play next Friday against conference opponent Akransas State at 6:30 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum.. That game will be broadcast live on KTSW 89.9
