The Texas State volleyball team went 2-0 over the weekend with a win over the defending Sun Belt champions Arkansas State and then capped off the weekend with a sweep over Little Rock.
Texas State topped Arkansas State 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 25-16) Friday night, ending Arkansas State’s 23-game win streak over Sun Belt opponents dating back to 2014.
Texas State played a tight first two sets but was able to take both late with a 25-22 and a 26-24 score. The Bobcats won both of the first two sets with big errors by the Red Wolves late.
Arkansas State never trailed in the third set but it was close as the score was 23-22 before the Red Wolves took the final two points to win the third set 25-22.
The fourth set was tied 12-12 before the Bobcats took 13 out of the last 17 points to win the set 25-16 and win the match 3-1.

Texas State came out and took down Little Rock 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-19) Saturday night.
The Bobcats (12-9, 5-1 SBC) won their fourth match in a four game homestand where they went 3-1.
Weynand followed up her Friday performance with 13 kills and eight digs. Lauren Kirch had 11 kills with four blocks on the night. Hoppe added 37 assists to her 44 from the night before.
Little Rock found themselves in a 16-4 hole early in the first set and weren’t able to get out of the hole as they drop the first set 25-16.
The Bobcats continued their dominance in the second set as they won it 25-12 and went up 2-0 into halftime.
Texas State got a 19-11 lead in the third set and were able to hold on for the 25-19 victory and the 3-0 match victory.
The Bobcats will take on UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
