Texas State junior pitcher Randi Rupp was named Preseason All-Conference and Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Senior third baseman Corrina Liscano was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Louisiana outfielder Aleah Craighton was named the Preseason Player of the Year.
The Sun Belt’s 2017 Softball Preseason All-Conference Team and Players of the Year were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Rupp is a two-time Sun Belt Preseason Pitcher of the Year and a two-time first team All-Sun Belt Conference honoree. With 628 strikeouts in 514.1 career innings pitched, Rupp has a 54-28 career record and a 2.16 career ERA. The two-time second team NFCA All-Central Region pitcher is ranked in the top 10 in Texas State’s career pitching records. Rupp ranks fourth in strikeouts, seventh in appearances, fifth in wins and fourth in shutouts.
Liscano earned second team All-Sun Belt recognition in 2016 after batting .292 with 32 RBI’s and 37 runs scored. She drew 30 walks and earned a team-best .449 on-base percentage. The senior went eight of eight in stolen-base attempts in 2016 along with 16 hit-by-pitches.
Texas State will be hosting the CenturyLink Classic at Bobcat Softball Stadium on Feb. 11. The Bobcats will face off against Big Ten’s Iowa and the Big 12’s Texas Tech as well as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Abilene Christian.
