A Sit Down With Texas State Women’s Basketball Coach
This week, I caught up with Head Women’s Basketball Coach Zenarae Antoine. After starting Sun Belt Conference play 6-4, the Bobcats have been able to string together arguably their best stretch of the season. After a 22 point loss to the University of Texas at Arlington in early January, the Bobcats have won seven of their last nine with back to back to back big wins against UTA (75-69), Arkansas State (63-43) and once undefeated Little Rock (64-47) all by playing hard nosed defense and with the ability to score the ball at what seems like at will for stretches of the game.
One of the biggest differences between the hard stretch at the start of the season and the run the women are on now is the return of senior forward Erin Peoples. Over the nine game stretch, Peoples has played in all nine games and has averaged over six points per game in that stretch. When asked if Peoples would have her minutes monitored, Coach Z made sure to clarify that there were “No minute restrictions,” which is a good sign.
Coach Z also talked about her favorite teams to watch, how she enjoys watching BIG 12 teams play and the recent games she’s has gotten to see live.
