Sun Belt Conference Matchups Set For Bobcats

The Texas State basketball team’s Sun Belt Conference tournament matchups have been announced for this upcoming weekend.

The men’s and women’s team both finished the regular season with a 11-7 record in the Sun Belt Conference with the men finishing with an overall record 18-12 and the women’s team finishing with an overall record of 16-13.

The men’s basketball team will be facing off against 12th seeded Louisiana-Monroe after the Warhawks upset Arkansas State in overtime during the first round of the SBC tournament 73-70. The Warhawks were 9-23 on the regular season which ranked last in the Sun Belt.

The men’s basketball team defeated Louisiana-Monroe in both meetings earlier this season, with the first win coming in San Marcos back in January 63-57. The second meeting was in Monroe, LA, for the last regular season game of the year for the Bobcats, in which Texas State was able to come out with a 70-65 victory. Texas State vs. Louisiana-Monroe is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Friday, March 10th.

The women’s team will be facing 5th seeded Louisiana in their first game of the tournament after the Rajin’ Cajun took down Louisiana-Monroe 79-72 on Tuesday afternoon. The Rajin’ Cajun had a regular season record of 18-10 and went 11-7 in the Sun Belt.

The Bobcats women’s team faced off against Louisiana twice this season and went 1-1 against the Rajin’ Cajun. Both team’s were able to pull off convincing wings on their home court during the season with the Bobcats winning the first matchup 62-40 and the Rajin’ Cajun winning 62-43. Texas State vs. Louisiana is scheduled today at 2 p.m.

The Sun Belt Conference tournament games will be held at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, LA. Both games will be available to watch through ESPN3 or tune into KTSW 89.9 to listen live.
