Texas State Baseball Falls Short To South Alabama

The Texas State Baseball team was handed their 21st loss Friday, April 28 by the South Alabama Jaguars who beat the Bobcats by a score of 8-3. The Jags were led by their ace Friday night starter, Randy Bell, who pitched a complete game against the Bobcats. Bell only gave up a total of three runs on five hits and the Jags committed two errors on

defense. Randy Bell picked up his fourth win of the season that moved him to a record of 4-3 on the season. The Bobcats threw Connor Reich on the mound who pitched well until the 5th inning. Reich gave up seven runs in the 5th inning, and the Bobcats failed to recover from that deficit. Reich picked up his 4th loss of the season and moved down to a 2-4 record on the season. The Bobcats gave up eight runs total on nine hits and committed one error defensively. Newman, Rodriguez and Paul led the way offensively for the Bobcats each getting one RBI to add up to the three runs total that the Bobcats scored. Thomas, Swaggerty, Russo and LaBounty led the way for the Jags by each driving in two runs that added up to their eight total runs scored.

The Cats fall to 22-21 on the season and 9-10 in the Sun Belt. The Jags improve to 26-17 0n the season and 13-6 in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats look to even the series up tomorrow April 29th at 6:30 p.m. and they close out the series against the Jags Sunday, April 30th with first pitch at 1 p.m..
